How To: Get Rid of Clean Access Agent

So, several people have asked me how to do this, so i will cover it right here. So, you may be asking, "Why would i ever want to get rid of Clean Access?" Well, first, you can use any security software of your choosing, second, you can use Windows 7 (!), and third, who likes to be constantly tracked?

1. Gather the software
OSFuscate
Firefox (which you should have already if you have been following my older posts)
User agent switcher for Firefox

2. Configuring OSFuscate
First, unzip the OSFuscate files (windows should automatically ask you if you want to when you try to run the program for the first time). Then if you are using Vista or Windows 7, right click OSFuscate.exe and click "run as administrator". This will allow you to get through the Windows security blocks. Once the software is open, click the down arrow on the first text box, and select linux.os, then click OK. The software will tell you that you need to restart your computer for it to configure properly, but wait.

3. Configuring Firefox
Open Firefox, and install User Agent Switcher. After Firefox has restarted, go to tools --> User agent Switcher --> Options --> Options... A new screen will pop up, and select User agents from the left hand menue. Then select add... In the new box that pops up you will only eed to type in the first two lines. On the First line, type "Mac OS X Firefox (3.0.7)" (no quotes). On the second line, copy this set of text " Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh: U: Intel Mac OS X 10.5: en-US: rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021906 Firefox/3.0.7 " and paste it. Click OK, then OK on the main screen. When you go to user Agent Switcher in your tools menue, the new profile should pop up. Close Firefox.

4. Make the new profile stay every time you open Firefox up
This part can be a bit tricky if you don't follow it correctly (hopefully i can explain this well). In My Computer, go to C:\Users\insert your user here\AppData . Click on roaming --> Mozilla --> Firefox --> Profiles --> whatever folder is listed --> and right click on "Prefs". Click on the edit option. This should open up a file with a whole list where each line starts with user_pref. Copy and paste " user_pref("useragentswitcher.reset.onclose", false); " on a new line at the end of the file. Make sure Firefox is closed, and save the file.

5. Make sure the new user agent stays on
Open Firefox again, and when you view the user agents from the tools menue, ckick on the new Mac OS X agent you created. Close and restart Firefox, then go back to the user agent menue on the tabs menue, and make sure the new user agent is still selected. If it is not, repeat step 4.

6. Clean and restart your computer
You are almost there! To finish, you just need to uninstall Clean Access Agent, and restart your computer. When your computer boots back up, Clean Access should not pop up, and once you are fully booted up, you should be able to connect to the internet! If you can suf the web, congrats! You are now free of the chains of Clean Access. If not, make sure you followed all of the previous directions carefully.

Feel better now? You should! You should feel free and carefree! And if you tried to do this on a Mac, you probably got stuck on the secont step because this how to does not apply to you. Wow, this blog is starting back up as slow as Vista after a BSOD (blue screen of death, a.k.a computer crash). I apologize again for the break since the last post (which was supposed to be the start for the second "season"). So, on today's agenda: semester update, clean access agent complaints, upcoming/new/what to expect this time around.

So, an update to, I guess, bring you up to date on what is going on this semester. So far, it has been pretty good. Unfortunately, I am taking all core classes except for Mechanical Engineering 3210 (which I hate anyway). Honors Calculus II is cal 2, there is not much to say about that. English 1120 is still composition, so all it is is writing essays. Technology and Civilization II is basically 60 minutes of "educational" videos a week. The Monday lectures are boring, and in class time, we watch relevant videos for 30 minutes then "discuss" (only around 1/3 of the class does this) the lecture. Honors Physics II is o.k. The class is not hard, and we are using the same book as last year, but the lab is horrible. The t.a. likes to assign us the hardest problems in the book (some even take him the whole lab time to work out), and then we are given a quiz on one of them. The labs that we have done are not that bad, but there is the lab report to write afterward. As for Mech 3210, it is not even relevant to my major. The class is really boring, and the lab is just standing in front of a mill, milling off metal until the piece that you are working on gets to within .005 inches of the given dimensions.

As for Clean Access Agent... Come on Auburn please have wifi that works consistantly in the dorms, and thanks for making only windows use clean access. Because of this problem, I am not able to use the glorious redemption known as Windows 7. Clean Access Agent is not "the latest version, and therefore is not compatible" with 7 when clearly, it is the most recent version shown on their website. Without the internet, I cannot get updates, or report bugs for them to be fixed. Please get your act together!

As for what to expect for the blog in the upcoming months (hopefully) there is much to be said. I want it to be whatever the readers want it to be. It can't be outrageous, but I will do anything reasonable. Other than that, you can expect the same stuff as before.

Sorry that I have not had an update in half a week. So, here I am. I have my second college football game to go to tomorrow. I am excited, unfortunately, it is in the middle of the day, so it will be pretty hot.

I just got back from another cookout at Grant's. It was pretty fun. We had lots of meat, and standing around the grill felt very manly. Lol. After tonight, we decided that we need to extend Grant's deck (and fix it up; sorry for your foot TJ). Once you have several people on it, it can get pretty crowded really quickly.

To sum things up (although I haven't written much), this week has to be the best week so far.

Yes, Auburn is my home. I am back and it feels great! When I went home, I realized why I didn't miss it much. But now I am back, and I don't have class until 11 tomorrow which is awesome! Um, that is about all I have to say.

So, I am typing this from my old home (the one in Hoover). I am very board. I did have a great night though (thanks Kristina). So I road home today from Auburn, and don't go back until Tuesday morning before class starts at 11. So, as it looks like now, Gustav it going to rape New Orleans (that means no Cafe du` Monde? or New Orleans jazz for several days).

I haven't had an update in a couple of days, and that is totally my fault. I have been very lazy lately, come on, I am in college. So, here is an update. We won the football game last night. WAR EAGLE!! Um, what else? Oh, I ate at a Chinese restaurant where the owner had the most generic Chinese ring tone. It was hilarious.

A big thing that happened this week is that I joined the Auburn SAE Formula team. It is awesome! We get to build a formula car from scratch and then race it against other colleges in the beginning of the summer. I am hoping to work in the shop helping with the electronics on the car. Apparently it is going to take a lot of time, but I hope that it will be well worth it.

Wel, that is about it. The only weird thing that I am dealing with is having to "take" commands from my parents even though I have already successfully called my Dad's bluff several times today.

Sorry I haven't written in my blog lately. If this is what you use to keep up with me, then you are currently looking in the wrong place. You can always text me. Anyway. I am writing this while I am sitting in the hall because of a tornado siren. So, the past few days have been amazing. Last night, I hung out at a friend's house, and realized that it is so much fun to watch people that are drying to drive through the drive-through at Taco Bell at 1 o'clock in the morning.

So, yeah, I really don't feel like blogging right now, but I decided that it was at least time for an update.

I almost forgot to blog tonight. That would have been horrible. and to quote from Dr. Horrible in a melodic tune, "It's a brand new day, the sun is high, the angles sing, cause you're gonna die!" Anyway, I did something really special for my mum today. While she was at work, I went and bought her a card and some flowers. I wrote a note to her on the card about me "sailing to new horizons, but I will be back because the love that I have on this side is like no other." We both had a moment when she opened the letter.

In other news, I have 2 day until I move. It's exciting.

In Olympics, congratulations for the two bronze medals in swimming.

Other than that, nothing much again.

W00t, I finally got texting! Anyway, today was pretty good. I woke up at 12. Then I went sandal shopping. I am pretty proud of myself paying $16 for $50 sandals. After that, I went to a friend's birthday party. It was kinda weird being the only guy there, but it was fun. We ate at Johnny Rockets, then went and watched Iron Man at the dollar theater. It was still pretty good the second time.

As far as the Olympics go, congrats Phelps for the 2 golds. Girl's gymnastics did good, congrats for your second place. I know it is not first, but I am glad that China finally got a gold in the gymnastics.

A new milestone.

So, it's been a week of blogging, and I am starting to get the hang of it. I would first like to congratulate the USA gymnastics team on willing the bronze medal their first time to be at the Olympics. Second, congratulations to Phelps on his gold. Third, yay for another win Mae/Walsh (it's probably not how you spell their names, but oh well). Did you know that they both want to have kids after the Olympics?

Yesterday, I went to Ramano's Macaroni Grill and had the Vodka Rustica. Very complex in the amount of flavors, and has a little spice to it. I would recommend it to anyone that goes there. It has to be my new favorite before Pasta Milano. Some of that is because my mum (yes mum not mom) makes it at home, and to me it tastes better.

The reason that I said mum in the earlier sentence is because to me it is fun to speak with a British accent. If you have ever talked to me on AIM, then you know what I am talking about. I am also weird in that I don't like ice in my drinks and I love hot tea. I guess that is good for when I study abroad in Europe since they don't put much ice, if any at all, i their drinks.

Oh, I almost forgot. I went to the dentist today, and it was not very good. I have not been to the dentist in a year, so that played a part in it, but I had so much buildup underneath my bottom retainer wire that they had to use a ultrasonic scraper. To me, the use of the ultrasonic technology was pretty cool, as with the tiny camera that they had so you could see the condition of your teeth up close on the T.V.

Yeah, we are going back to the moon!! 2019 here we go!

The French are still full of themselves!

So, it has been what, 150 years since Napoleon and France is still full of themselves. What's up with that? I would have to say that beating the world record by 4 seconds is an amazing feat.

Anyway, enough making fun of France, they have had 150 years of it. It was a sad day today. The last official Sunday at Shades. I will defiantly be back, but it won't be the same. So, the family went out on the boat today, and of course, since I learned at the beginning of the summer, I had to drive to the lake. It sucks since the boat is about 3/4 a foot larger on each side than the jeep, so I have to keep a close eye on the mirrors and where the wheels are in relation to the lanes. And then when 18 wheelers pass you, and the airflow is interrupted, is so annoying. The low pressure created behind them pulls the boat toward the truck. Luckily it is easy to deal with, put annoying.

Enough complaining. I am soo ready for my last week at home! If you have anything fun for me to do (keyword FUN) PLEASE CALL ME! Um, that's all i can think of tonight. Talk to all of you tomorrow.

So today I didn't do anything again. Although I did go town and test the pool water. Basically I have been swimming in acid. pool water that doesn't read on normal p.h. charts is not good. L Brown says hi! So anyway, I am again not writing on the how-to series because of a request for all my friends on help for firefox.

User agent switcher - you can change what the internet sees your browser as. Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, and Safari. Starbucks offers free wifi to iPhone users, and with this extension you can make it look like you are using an iPhone and get free Internet at Starbucks

Other Firefox tweaks and goodies.

Go to about:config and change network.http.pipelining to true and change network.http.pipelining.maxrequests from 8 to 100. This will speed up Firefox
Go to about:mozilla
go to about:robots

Wow, China, I would personally like to thank you for the amazing opening ceremonies, especially the lighting of the torch. I didn't even see it coming.

In other news, I will not post anything in my how-to series because I was too lazy to think of something. Agin, I did nothing today. Good luck to all of you who are moving in tomorrow. Have fun with cramped parking spaces, and carrying things into your dorm. Remember to factor in any traffic to your traveling time. Other than that, I don't have anything else to blog about tonight.

A freak like me part II

So, today I did nothing. Absolutely nothing. I did find this though. A guy made a home made "Tumbler." It's freggin sweet!

So, on to part dose of being smart like me. Acquiring information, knowledge part 2. For all you Apple fan boys the reason I included Maximum PC in my suggested magazines that I read is that usually when a person has computer problems, they are with PCs. So, secondly, you need to hang out with my awesome friends. Usually they are pretty good for information, and if you remember what they say, the next time the same problem/question comes up, you can tell them what you were told. The same applies to repair. If you have had to repair or fix the same problem before, it is much easier to explain things to the person who asked for your help. Another way that you can get information is expand your circle of people you know. For me it was from working at McWane and getting to know some Birmingham big-wigs, to Chinese Importers (yes, I can try to import some goods for you), and knowing people that have all stances on life so that you can better understand any question that is thrown at you. Tomorrow on my how-to I think i will post on my personality but I am not sure yet... so stay tuned.

Where do I start...

So, today was a very eventful day. Because of that, my How-to will start further down the page. So first of all, I had to wake up at 9:30. What a pain, I know (but I did have cinnamon rolls for breakfast). Then I went with the family to Visionland. Yes Visionland, not the new and improved "Alabama Adventure" it sucks! I will get to that later. But, tonight was an amazing way to end today.

Tonight started with "Underground Church", or an informal Wednesday night service. Chris, you did a phenomenal job with worship tonight. Then a rather large group went to the PO (yes for the second night in a row, why not?). We were there for about 2 hours and had a lot of conversation, although some of it rather odd. While we were there, we also found out that the workers and managers like doughnuts, and that the manager is quite humorous.

So, on to my rant about "Alabama Adventure" Here are five things you could improve on:

Change the name! It was defiantly not an adventure except one into dehydration.
Clean the park up. Pick up the trash every once and a while!
Why do all the African-Americans work outside, and the white people work inside, or are lifeguards? Think about that situation...
Get real rides. Spinning ones are only fun for so long, and the Zoomerang sucks.
Stop nickle and dimeing people. Why are rafts in the water park extra?

So, as you can see, I have made several aesthetic changes to the blog, hopefully you like them! First off, If you weren't there tonight for bowling, it was a lot of fun (especially since we went to the classic P.O. afterward).

Tomorrow I will probably be starting the series on how to become tech savvy/full of useful tips for friends. This will make you seem smarter (if you can pull it off, like me, lol) and hopefully, over time, you will become smarter!

Finally, my blog is up. Unfortunately, I am not hosting it on my own server like I wanted to because I don't have a working one. Become a member and comment!

So, to start off, I just want to say that all of you that I have met over the years have been amazing. This is where you can keep up with me if you don't look at Facebook often. I will post almost anything, even if it means getting criticized by some. So, send your questions!

Second, I will post many recommendations that I have about anything, including my thoughts on electronics, books, theories, etc..
